I avidly observe the world around me with curiosity, noticing the colors and patterns of leaves and bark and feathers, the flight patterns of birds, light reflected on water. The artwork I create combines the principles of art and design I’ve learned through professional training and experimentation, and my life experiences. It reflects my intimacy with land I lived on and tended for many years, time in nature, many years designing and caring for habitat gardens, and teaching children. I work in watercolor, gouache, colored inks and pencils. Over the past couple of years I’ve started carving my own textile stamps to print fabric.

My career path includes a B.A. in Human Ecology and Certificates in Textile and Surface Design and Graphic Design. For many years I’ve had parallel careers as a designer and as a science and nature educator land-based non-profits and schools. I was trained as a scientist and an artist, and my work incorporates the skills and insights from both of these paths of inquiry. For some years I worked as a professional designer for Pottery Barn, Willams Sonoma and other companies, and I have been able to apply the many artistic and interpersonal skills I developed there in my current role as a program director for a non-profit organization.

I am an avid habitat gardener, in continual conversation with the wild and the cultivated and where I am constantly awed and inspired by the beauty and intricacy of nature and human creativity.
